Spartans - The warriors of the Land




The Spartans are the warriors of the land and as such they are based on a mixture of the Bristish Army and Royal Marines.
Joining the Spartans provides a wonderful and unique opportunity to take part in exciting Army themed training activities and events, all of which focus on building the cadets; courage, self-discipline, respect for others, integrity, loyalty and commitment as well as developing effective communication skills, confidence, being part of a team with a winning spirit and a sense of pride and achievement.
This is delivered through a blend of on-site training, field and range nights as well as weekend camps and residential courses.
Being a Spartan aims to set you up for life long success and inspire cadets to achieve. Promote the qualities of responsibility, self-reliance, resourcefulness and a sense of service to the community.
Other activities include; drill, first aid, communications along with a host of other transferable skills cadets also have the opportunity to get gain nationally recognised qualifications in first aid, health and safety, fire safety and many more.
As a youth organisation, the MYG strives to give cadets a fun, enjoyable experience in a totally safe environment. There is no commitment or expectation on cadets to join the regular Armed Forces.

Fieldcraft is an all-encompassing term for lots of different skills and activities. Your training will typically start with the basics of personal camouflage and concealment, stealthy movement in the field, and learning to work as part of a team to accomplish certain tasks.

First aid is an important part of the cadet syllabus, and cadets will have the opportunity to take part in different levels of first aid training.
scenarios will be based in the field and in the unit and will challenge your skills and knowledge as well as feel rewarding.

One skill that is vital in whatever you do in life is the ability to communicate clearly, confidently and effectively, and that is what is at the heart of signals training in the MYG. It’s a topic that is growing more popular by the year and involves learning how to use a variety of methods and apply your skills.

Skill at Arms & Marksmanship
This is another great subject that will teach you self-discipline as you learn how to handle weapons in a safe and responsible manner. You will start a basic level using air-rifles and progress to become an expert in the operation and safe handling of waepons.
